morgan hunt supports the muscular dystrophy campaign
10/01/2008
As part of our ongoing commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility, we have chosen the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to be our Charity of the Year and work with them on a number of exciting initiatives.
Stephen Fordham, chairman, comments “It is shocking to think that unemployment rates for disabled people are about twice as high as those of people without a disability and we want to do something to redress the balance.”
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the only UK charity focusing on all muscular dystrophies and allied disorders. They have pioneered the search for treatments and cures for over 45 years and provide practical, medical and emotional support for people affected by the conditions
We have some exciting plans for this partnership including:
- Work experience provision for people with muscular dystrophy at our offices to show that those with muscular dystrophy are able to lead normal lives.
- A charity week event commencing 25th February 2008 where a percentage of profits will be donated towards the charity’s work. For every placement made Morgan Hunt will donate £200 to the charity. Consultants will be incentivised to make placements and the week will culminate in an awards presentation with a well-known motivational speaker and celebrity who will come to talk and present the prizes. Clients may also be invited to this event.
- Fundraising at the Morgan Hunt seminars in London, Leeds & Birmingham which we offer free to clients, but donations to the charity can be made by clients.
- Disability awareness training will be provided for Morgan Hunt employees.
- Employee volunteering will take place as part of our employee voluntary scheme in Manchester to help build a path to a - Neuromuscular Centre for those with muscular dystrophy.
- Involvement in helping those with muscular dystrophy find work with our clients through Morgan Hunt.
The partnership involves a range of ongoing initiatives and we hope to really make a difference through a concerted and collaborative effort.
