Category Manager

£55000 - £55001 per annum Pension, Career Progression, Many more

Job description

I am currently working with a well-known Housing Association, based in London and the South East, in their search for a permanent Category Manager to join a growing procurement team as they strengthen the group's procurement functions by categorically spreading workloads.

You will support the management of a designated category, with specific emphasis on property services, commercial areas and the sustained delivery of optimum supplier performance to the organisation and agreed SLA's. The role will take a Procurement Business Partner approach whereby the Category Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance to regulations and processes (e.g. PCR 2015, OJEU) whilst ensuring best value for money agreements.

As a successful postholder you will have experience of developing and implementing Category Strategies as well as making recommendations and running sourcing projects via PCR 2015. You will have experience of performance monitoring and reporting against contractual and SLA requirements and you will hold a strong working knowledge of current Category platforms as well as standard Microsoft Office platforms. It is crucial that you are a hardworking, motivated and resilient individual who works well in both team and individual environments.

You will be required to attend the London Office on occasion and will be offered 31 days annual leave in total among other benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing contracts and projects which fall within several category areas such as Property Services, Planned and Reactive Maintenance, New-Build Development, FM and Environmental Services
  • Supporting the Procurement Business Partner (Senior Category Managers) in delivering the relevant category strategies, as well as taking ownership of various sub-categories, including tenders, management of framework agreements and other projects
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements, mapping these to the Procurement objectives and TOM (Target Operating Model)
  • Overseeing successful contract implementations, whilst attending scheduled contract review meetings with the wider Contract Management Team colleagues to support them in ensuring that supplier requirements and performance are being delivered against the agreed SLA's and KPI's. Providing solutions to contract related problems
  • To develop/maintain appropriate supplier and customer relationships in line with agreed strategy for a specific category or sub-category under best practice contract management model

Personal Specification

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to enable the development relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience of pre and post commercial administration of contracts and managing supplier performance
  • Experience of performance monitoring and reporting against policy/project/contractual or SLA requirements
  • Experience of working within a Public Sector Procurement function
