Job description

Organisation: The College of Radiographers
Job Title: Patient Trustee (with lived experience of radiography)
Location: Our headquarters are in London; however, given we are a national charity you can be based anywhere in the UK
Commitments: Quarterly Board meetings: in person and/or hybrid.

About us
The College of Radiographers (CoR) is a UK registered charity and subsidiary of the Society of Radiographers, the trade union and professional body for the radiographic workforce and associated professionals in the UK. The CoR supports the promotion and development of medical imaging and radiotherapy, the promotion of study and research into radiography, and the promotion of public awareness of the profession.

The Society and College of Radiographers are two separate companies operating together to provide service and support for those involved in radiography, including as patients, service users and the public.

About you
We are seeking a committed individual with lived experience in radiography or radiotherapy as a patient or caregiver to join the Board of the College of Radiographers as a Patient Trustee.

As a Trustee, you will be responsible for providing oversight, guidance and decision-making in the governance and strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring it operates in the best interests of its mission and stakeholders. The lived experience which you gained utilising radiography as a patient or caregiver will enable you to advocate for the needs and concerns of patients, providing valuable input to our decision-making process.

It is essential that as a Trustee you bring an understanding of good governance. We would welcome applications from individuals who have experience as a Trustee or Non-Executive; or who bring transferable skills from senior leadership positions.

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion statement
We know diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion among our workforce and Board and we aim to ensure the College Board of Trustees is representative of all sections of society.

We would welcome applications from diverse individuals, and communities, and particularly encourage those from an ethnically diverse background. A diverse board brings a variety of perspectives, experiences, and skills to the table, which in turn helps boards make better decisions, as well as building trust and confidence with our members and wider stakeholders.
