Morgan Hunt are currently working with a well-established Charity Organisation, in their search for a temporary Business Planning Manager to provide Governance and Secretariat duties to Senior Board/Committee Members as well as oversee the performance and risk assessment.

You will be responsible for overseeing business planning and strategic arrangements and ensuring regulatory compliance, performance management and setting KPI targets, risk management and to also provide high quality secretariat support to the Board of Trustees and its sub-Committees and conducting a complete review of the organisation\'s policies.

You will also support with preparing agendas, coordinating papers and taking minutes for Committees, in consultation with Committee Chairs and the Director of Strategy & Governance.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in Performance Management, Corporate Governance, Compliance and Risk Management. You must be a well-communicated, organised and proactive self-starter, with the ability to deal with competing priorities.



Job Title: Governance Manager
Location: Hybrid Working (3 days per week office attendance London)
Hourly Rate: £170.00 to £200.00 per day (PAYE)
Job Type: Temporary Contract (12 months)
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft the annual Management Plan, working with stakeholders to set objectives and priorities for the year ahead
  • Create, implement and maintain a performance management framework which allows the Senior Leadership Team and the Board to monitor progress towards achievement of objectives
  • Develop and implement a framework for assessing organisational effectiveness and efficiency, working with stakeholders to identify metrics
  • Maintain the organisation\'s risk register, provide policy advice to stakeholders and support stakeholders with identifying and implementing mitigation actions to reduce the overall level of risk
  • Working with HR and Finance, monitor compliance with organisation policies and practices, undertaking compliance checks as appropriate.
  • Maintain the policy register, ensuring that policies remain accurate, relevant and up to date
  • Prepare agendas, coordinate papers and take minutes for Committees, in consultation with Committee Chairs and the Director of Strategy & Governance
  • To support the Head of Governance in the preparation and coordination of Board meetings
  • To ensure that the organisation is operating in line with regulatory and statutory obligations, and the Charity Governance Code.



Person Specification

  • A track record of operating in governance or secretariat roles and good understanding of charity governance
  • Must have extensive knowledge of performance management and risk management
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills with experience of writing in different styles, according to audience and purpose
  • Must be self-motivated and a self-starter who can quickly translate issues into solutions
  • Must be able to confidently and professionally challenge and hold people to account and able to manage several projects simultaneously whilst working at a high standard
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal and organisation skills as well as excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and Asana.

    Main duties and responsibilities

    • Manage caseload effectively and efficiently
    • Initially review liability, quantum and Claimant Solicitor conduct before devising a strategy for continued handling;
    • Handle cases to conclusion including instructing investigators, posing Part 35 questions, instructing Counsel and making Part 36 offers;
    • Complete client and firm MI procedures
    • Comply with client SLAs, e-manual and local claims handling requirements
    • Achieve set chargeable hours and financial targets
    • Comply with Data Protection Procedures

    About You

    Ideally, you will have some experience of dealing with motor/litigated claims and a genuine interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. It would be preferable for you to have:

    • Experience of handling/assisting a case load of litigated motor files, within the small claims and fast track, preferably as a Defendant
    • Knowledge of CPR
    • Ability to work to meet deadlines and hit targets
    • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
    • Excellent communication skills

    Role
