Senior Delivery Manager

 

Job Description

Morgan Hunt is working with a leading Government organisation to recruit a Senior Delivery Manager on a contractual basis. This position can be worked in London or Glasgow.

You will be working on a heat network project.

The role:

  • Deliver projects and services using Agile methodologies, act as scrum master, leading and coordinating Agile ceremonies.
  • Deputise for the Principal Delivery Manager in management of the Delivery Management Team in instances of annual leave, absence or on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Undertake PDL responsibilities, line manage and develop members of the delivery management team(s) to deliver consistently high performance against objectives, provide pastoral care and create a career development pathway.
  • Act as an escalation point for line reports, escalate project risks and issues at the directorate level, and remove barriers to delivery of the portfolio.
  • Work with the Product Manager (Product Owner) to define the roadmap for any given product or project and support the team to break work down to stories they can deliver.
  • Track delivery through fortnightly sprints/monthly reporting and maintaining project highlight report.
  • Protect the team from outside distraction and make sure the team collaborates, communicates and focuses on mutually agreed priorities.
  • Provide the organisation community with confidence in the effectiveness of Delivery Management, and support the organisation in maturing practices in line with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
  • Monitors and manages programme/project baseline to ensure activities are occurring as planned - budget and schedule - manages variances.
  • Support development of business cases with the Digital Delivery and business teams including leading on the solutions estimate.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Government Digital Service (GDS) experience
  • Experience in delivering complex digital projects or programmes within an Agile framework
  • Proven aptitude for leadership, for example through formal or informal line management of others or agile coaching
  • Experience improving ways of working, processes and driving strategic initiatives at departmental level
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to manage and motivate project teams
  • Resource planning, budgeting, forecasting and contract management skills
  • Programme or project risk management
  • Ability to translate project plans into key objectives
  • A recognised Agile qualification e.g. Certified Scrum Master

The details:

  • 6 month contract Inside IR35
  • £750 daily rate
  • London or Glasgow based
  • Hybrid working: 1 day a week in the office
  • The right to work in the UK - no sponsorship can be provided

    Role Details

    • 6 month contract (possibility of extension)
    • Remote working with attendance to Edinburgh or Glasgow office when there is a business need.
