Are you a Housing Advice and Homelessness Prevention Officer looking for work in Hillingdon?
Morgan Hunt's Public Sector and Government client based Hillingdon in is looking to recruit a Housing Advice and Homelessness Prevention Officer to deliver customer focused, professional and effective housing advice. Along with homelessness prevention & statutory homelessness assessment to meet the council's targets and duties.
This temporary assignment will run for three months initially with a view to extend and has been deemed inside of IR35.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:
-Assist in the induction and training of peers and new employees.
-Collaborate with your team to ensure a smooth operation of our services.
-Deliver professional, responsive, and individualised housing advice to residents.
-Uphold our Customer Care Standards, putting our residents first.
-Empower residents to independently assess and manage their housing situation.
-Provide housing advice and assistance to potentially homeless clients.
-Assess and determine applications from homeless households.
-Maintain timely, high-quality case work records and reports.
-Stay updated with housing legislation, policy, and procedures.
-Represent the service in meetings and committees as required.
-Contribute to housing strategies and related projects.
-Detect and prevent fraudulent applications for housing assistance.
-Investigate complaints and ombudsman inquiries when necessary.
-Advise on a range of housing options, promoting self-service and independence.
-Work to transition clients from temporary accommodation to sustainable housing.
-Develop relationships with private sector landlords and property owners.
-Collaborate with various teams and services to provide a seamless experience.
-Provide expert advice on security of tenure.
-Proactively manage complex cases to prevent crisis homelessness.
-Build effective working relationships with other services.
-Investigate and discharge the homeless duty where necessary.
-Contribute to team plans and development of procedure manuals.Actively support the effective management of the department's budget.
-Identify cost-effective changes in working methods.
-Contribute to service improvement initiatives.
-Identify and suggest improvements to enhance service efficiency.
-Deliver agreed Team Plans.
-Reduce the use of temporary accommodation.
-Procure private rented accommodation.
-Support residents into alternative housing.
-Complete prevention case decisions within 56 days.-
Maintain quality service levels.
To excel further in this role, you should have:
-Experience in housing advice, case work, and multi-disciplinary working.
-Knowledge of housing needs, policies, and legislation.
-Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
-Proficiency in data management and ICT tools.
-Positive attitude and commitment to change.
