Job description

Hospital IDVA - Empowering Domestic Abuse Survivors

Join our dedicated team as a Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) and help empower domestic abuse survivors. As an IDVA, you'll provide proactive, high-quality front-line services, including risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, and emotional support. Collaborate within a multi-agency framework and keep safety at the forefront of all services for survivors of domestic abuse.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess risks and needs using evidence-based checklists.
  • Prioritise high-risk cases, delivering crisis intervention and individual safety planning.
  • Provide emotional and practical support, and explore legal and civil options.
  • Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) framework.
  • Safeguard both children and vulnerable adults.
  • Deliver tailored domestic abuse training within our organisation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
  • Comply with data protection and confidentiality policies.
  • Stay updated on organisational procedures and professional codes of conduct.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic violence and abuse.
  • Strong skills in risk identification and safety planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with legal, housing, health, and financial resources for survivors.
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of MARAC and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.
  • Training delivery skills and ability to identify training needs.
  • Adherence to data protection and confidentiality regulations.
