Job description

Job Title: Senior Housing Support Officer

Location: London

Our client is a leading charity committed to supporting vulnerable young women at risk of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). We offer refuge and tailored services to empower and care for young BME women from South Asian, Turkish, and Middle Eastern communities.

Position Overview: We seek a dedicated Housing Support Manager to lead and support our refuge team, delivering comprehensive care and advocating for women who have experienced domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Staff:

  • Provide line management and support to Housing Support Workers.
  • Lead staff induction and appraisals.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing refuges, complex cases, and safety planning.
  • Promote teamwork and ensure staff follow policies.

Case Work:

  • Manage the second stage of the refuge.
  • Support Service Users in setting and achieving goals.
  • Oversee daily refuge operation and progress.
  • Build professional relationships with Service Users.
  • Accompany Service Users to external appointments.
  • Encourage independence and future planning.
  • Support ex-Service Users during resettlement.

Agencies:

  • Maintain contact with relevant agencies.

Peer Support:

  • Assist with referral, admission, and Health & Safety.
  • Develop volunteers and maintain team relationships.

General:

  • Contribute to referrals and staff inductions.
  • Ensure rent collection and maintenance.
  • Support with monitoring and data collation.
  • Attend meetings, training, and maintain confidentiality.

Finance:

  • Handle rent collection and liaise with the Finance Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualification or experience.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and cultural sensitivity.
  • Leadership and staff management skills.
  • Teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and commitment to our values.
