Job Title: Ex-Offender Housing Support Worker

Location: Richmond, London

Duration: Temporary (6-8 months) with potential for permanent employment

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Late Shifts: Two late shifts a week (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM) only on occasion and with no lone working, typically to cover for colleagues who may be sick.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Temporary Key Worker to join our team at the Richmond site, providing crucial support to individuals transitioning from the prison service. Located in Richmond 10 minutes from the station. The 3-floor building fosters a positive atmosphere and maintains a good relationship with the local community. The Richmond overground and underground stations, as well as the district line, are all within a 10-minute walk from the site, making it easily accessible.

Responsibilities:

As an ex-offender Housing Support Worker, you will work with a client group consisting of male individuals aged 18 and above. While some clients may have a history of domestic issues or alcohol-related problems, they are generally polite and well-behaved.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Key Working: Establishing and maintaining a professional and supportive relationship with clients, ensuring they receive the assistance they need.
  • Paperwork Management: Handling administrative tasks, including benefits claims and ensuring that client records are up to date.
  • Regular Check-Ins: Making sure that clients are seen on a weekly basis and conducting periodic reviews to assess their progress.
  • Case Management: Providing comprehensive case management support to ensure clients do not fall into arrears and helping them navigate their reintegration into society.

Support for Low-Risk Offenders: Collaborating with clients who have varying offense histories, including repeat offenders, those with domestic violence issues, and individuals involved in petty theft and crimes.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to maintain a positive and non-judgmental attitude.
  • Willingness to work with clients who have a range of backgrounds and needs.
  • Excellent organizational and paperwork management abilities.
