Join our dedicated team in a service supporting vulnerable rough sleepers with drug and alcohol support needs in an east London borough. This program is making a significant impact on the lives of those affected by substance misuse and homelessness. Now, we're looking for a committed Rough Sleeper Outreach Support Worker to help us continue our mission.

The programme, located within a homeless day centre in east London, is committed to enhancing the quality of life for locally connected rough sleepers. We provide comprehensive care, from initial engagement and harm reduction to treatment and recovery, for individuals with intertwined histories of substance use and street homelessness.

As an Rough Sleeper Outreach Support Worker, your role will include:

  • Providing harm reduction advice and support to rough sleepers and homeless individuals.
  • Offering information and advice on treatment and recovery services within the borough, advocating for clients when needed.
  • Enabling individuals to engage with and complete treatment, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Assisting clients to access external services like Primary Care.
  • Increasing the number of people accessing structured treatment and recovery through a bespoke pathway.
  • Providing varied support using a strengths-based, client-centered approach.

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should have:

  • Experience working in an outreach team and conducting street outreach
  • A background working with vulnerable individuals with complex needs
  • Experience in working with individuals actively engaged in substance use
  • Proficiency in solution-focused 1:1 work and psycho-social approaches
  • Knowledge of substance misuse issues and relevant services in the area
  • An understanding of the local community, cultural diversity, and the importance of adapting services for equal access
  • The ability to work with a diverse community and in partnership
  • Flexibility, including the willingness to work unsociable hours
  • A "can do" attitude and a commitment to core values
