Full Stack Developer

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available, working as a Full Stack Developer for my client who provides certification in multiple areas of business including Compliance, Sustainability, Cyber Security, Manufacturing etc.

My client is looking for experienced Full Stack Developers, with a solid grasp of contemporary web application tools, Blockchain, and AI, along with best practices. You will assume a key role in crafting data-driven applications that will revolutionise how brands and retailers evaluate their supply chains and instigate enhancements.

Responsibilities as a Full Stack Developer

  • Formulate and develop resilient, scalable, and extensible web applications using Ruby on Rails frameworks and ReactJS.
  • Collaborate as a member of the global product development team.
  • Designing and developing applications based on specified requirements and standards (Working with Engineering, QA and DevOps to ensure timely, high quality project completion).
  • Conduct code assessments with team members.
  • Craft unit test cases.
  • Actively participate in all Scrum events.
  • Fulfil other assigned responsibilities.

Experience and Skills

Required

  • 5 years of software development experience.
  • 3 years hands on engagement in web back-end development using Ruby, preferably within Ruby on Rails framework.
  • Strong familiarity with RESTful services and API design, coupled with a strong comprehension of web stacks.
  • Proficiency with Express/Fastify or similar Node framework.
  • Experience in database querying using both ORM and SQL.
  • Exposure to Blockchain and/or AI, and Docker usage, and tools such as Git, Jira, Sentry, and Confluence.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing data models and data pipelines to support business processes.
  • Ability to implement automated unit tests.
  • Experience as a member of a Scrum team.

Desirable

  • Experience in front-end web development using ReactJS and knowledge of fundamental HTML5/CSS/JS design principles.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, particularly Apollo.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Gitlab CI and Jenkins.
  • Understanding of TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with any major cloud computing platforms (preferably AWS).

    About the role:

    A high-profile role within the IT Services department requiring both strong technical and people management skills with experience of working within an ITIL compliant service desk. The post-holder will also act as 3rd line support and have line management responsibility for a small support team, within a busy, agile environment.

    The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently, delivering the highest levels of service availability, performance and security.     About the person:

The postholder will be experienced with the technical administration, development and support of a complex multi-site, multi-domain virtualised Windows environment and network; with the ability to undertake root-cause analysis and deliver robust solutions.

    A motivated self-starter with an eye for detail and the ability to multi-task within an agile environment. Together with excellent communication and organisational skills, you are able to lead and manage a technical support team and engage with stakeholders across the business including staff, students and external agencies.

  • Technologist in Residence - Ecological Citizens

    Founded in 1837, the Royal College of Art is the world’s largest community of postgraduate art and design students. It is also the oldest art and design university-level institution in continuous operation and has been ranked as the world‘s number one art and design university for a remarkable nine consecutive years, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 – the worldwide survey of academic and industry opinion.

    Applications are invited for a Technologist in Residence for the Ecological Citizens Project.  This is a part time (7 hours per week) and fixed term until January 2027, role based in Battersea with occasion travel to project partner locations (York and Wrexham) may be required.

    Working as a key member of the Ecological Citizen(s) Network+ (EC) team, the Technologist in Residence will be based with the Royal College of Art core team. This role will be a great opportunity for a Designer to use their skills and expertise to help the Ecological Citizen(s) Network+ deliver one of its core objectives: catalysing research, activities and means of enabling ecological citizenship for positive climate action in a sustainable, digital society. 

    The technologist in residence post will support the delivery and creative development of the technological aspects of the RCA’s Ecological Citizens project (EC). This includes working within the 3 distinct strands of the EC project: 1. The research and ‘micro-projects’ carried out by the EC team (that sits across the three core partner institutions), 2. The expansion and growth of the Ecological Citizens Network + and 3. The external projects / pieces of work that are funded via the EC’s funding call for proposals (3 rounds of funding across 3 years).

    The role will require a candidate who is self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a large variety of transdisciplinary groups, institutions, and industries.  The work will rely on good communication and team working skills. The successful candidate will work alongside the principal researcher, co-investigators, the national team, partners, and other roles within the project. The project is design-led but an active interest in; the natural world, materials, and the digital economy would be beneficial, but not essential.
