Parliamentary Correspondence Officer

We have a current opportunity for a Parliamentary Correspondence Officer on a temporary basis for a duration of 6 months. Previous Government experience is advantageous.

The position will be based in Glasgow, with full time working hours and can be done on a hybrid basis (1 day p/w office requirement). The hourly pay rate is £15 per hour.

Output required:

• Pro-actively manage own workload to achieve organisational deadlines so the client meets information rights and political correspondence KPIs
• Work closely with lawyers, subject matter experts and policy teams to ensure we are providing accurate and informative answers
• Exercise political judgement and recognise potential reputational risks / sensitivities for the client and escalate where appropriate
• Draft responses which are professional and consistent by adhering to the clients style and Simpler, Clearer Communication principles
• Build, maintain and manage internal relationships to raise awareness and understanding of the team's work

Key relationships:

• Information Rights and Correspondence Manager
• Senior Manager External Relations (Wales/Scotland)
• Colleagues across the business to support the timely answering of information requests and of parliamentary correspondence.

Essential criteria:

• Has political awareness in the context of the organisation.
• Ability to absorb complex information quickly and communicate it clearly, in writing and orally, to staff at all
• Excellent proofreading skills, attention to detail and ability to identify what angles will be of interest to external
• Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and nurture contacts across all teams within the business.
• Self-starter with experience of prioritising a varied and complex workload, to ensure competing demands and unpredictable deadlines are met.
