HGV Driver

Job description

Morgan Hunt is currently seeking HGV Drivers for an ongoing contract across Highlands. This role will cover Inverness.

You will be required to have a class 2 licence, Cpc and Taco Digi Card

These contracts will be long term for a minimum of 6 months with an anticipated start date of End of October.

The operatives generally work Monday to Friday 0800-1630. They'll be undertaking a variety of road maintenance tasks as well as driving gritters. There could be the opportunity for a permanent job at the end of the season for the right person.

You will work a 3 week rota:

• 1 week dayshift - Standby Saturday and Sunday at home. Monday to Friday 0800-1630 but standby for any dayshift gritting out with these times including weekend. (min 40hrs)
• 1 week nightshift - Standby Saturday and Sunday nights at home. In the depot Monday to Thursday 1930-0600 doing road maintenance tasks if mild. Friday night standby at home. (min 40hrs)
• 1 week 'spare' - Monday to Friday 0800-1630 (min 40hrs) no standby requirement

Effectively every 2 weekends out of 3 they'll be on a standby.

Overtime rates

Any hours over a weekly 40 is paid at x1.5 = £19.50 per hour

Nightshift is paid at x1.3 for the first 40hrs = £16.90 per hour

1.8 for anything over 40hrs (Nightshift) = £23.40 per hour

Standby rate

Full week - £109.03

No standby is paid when on night shifts Monday to Thursday, but you will still be paid for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There is a great opportunity to earn overtime and decent standby payments. Overtime is all dictated by the weather.
