Morgan Hunt is currently working exclusively with a well-known Public Sector organisation, in their search for a permanent Senior Procurement Manager (Construction) to lead across the Construction, Category. As the successful post holder, you will essentially be the Commercial Director of these portfolios.

As a successful postholder you will be responsible for implementing a category management approach across the Group to ensure that goods, services, and works are procured efficiently and achieve value for money through providing procurement and commercial expertise, and utilising market knowledge. You will act as an ambassador and promote best practice within Procurement, while working across the team and organisation to deliver high value complex contracts.

You will have experience working within Procurement and Category Management, within a large Public Sector organisation. You will have strong knowledge of Public Sector Procurement (including PCR 2015 and OJEU). You will have experience within competitive dialogue, competitive procedure with negotiation and establishment of framework agreements. You will be a pragmatic, influential and well-communicated Procurement Professional with strong management, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

About the role

As part of the role, you will lead the provision of a professional end-to-end procurement service, taking responsibility for strategic categories of procurement spend. The post is also accountable for utilising data and market analysis, to develop effective procurement strategies for the category, that maximise best and added value from the market whilst ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent professional advice to inform organisation-wide business strategy, keeping the organisation at the forefront of innovative practice and commercial excellence on strategic procurement, contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • To drive the annual procurement savings target planning activities and coordinate inputs across multiple categories of spend; to provide an expert view on complex categories of spend with procurement plans for projects.
  • To establish and maintain key relationships with internal and external users, suppliers and system providers, for example managing supplier relationships (external) and senior departmental managers (internal) through the procurement process and Category Board governance for a strategic category of spend, and to act as a business partner across a range of departments whose requirements are considered to be complex and/or challenging.
  • Support the Assistant Director Property & Projects to identify opportunities for commercial initiatives to effectively manage the supply chain across the departments of the organisation and the wider public and private sectors across London.
  • To lead the development of a comprehensive category strategy to identify opportunities to drive improvements and/or efficiencies from the market and to effectively plan and resource procurement activity.
  • To manage the activity of any Procurement and Contract Managers and Procurement and Contract Officers assigned to support the category, ensuring projects are delivered on time and providing assurance regarding quality and risk management.

Personal Specification

  • In-depth knowledge of Public Procurement legislation (PCR 2015, OJEU, etc)
  • A pragmatic and self-motivated individual with strong relationship building, negotiating and influencing skills which are able to win difficult stakeholders
  • Experience and knowledge in developing and successfully delivering category, procurement and / or contract management strategies; realising cashable and non-cashable benefits.
  • Relevant experience as a professional expert in a large complex organisation with expert knowledge in the specialist field.
  • Significant experience and knowledge of delivering procurement projects on time and to budget using a structured methodology
  • Understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including influencing skills and ability to develop business networks and work collaboratively.
  • Experience within the Construction or Public Sector realms

    The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. We can offer support to those looking to start their careers in teaching, together with a Mechanical Engineering vocational qualification at Level 3 and Level 4 or higher. You should have demonstrable experience of the Engineering industry. If you have an assessor and/or verifier award this would also be considered.

    Job Purpose:

     

    The Trainee Project Coordinator is an integral part of the union and reports directly to the Head of Community Learn. The Trainee Project Coordinator will work as part of a team engaging Community members and expanding the union’s presence in the community. The role will involve shaping and supporting the coordination of regional campaigns in line with national initiatives, seek to recruit and organise members within new organisations including community groups, charity organisations, religious groups, and branches. The Trainee Project Coordinator will also oversee administration and delivery of learning services in supporting Community Learn in advancing the learning aims of the union.

     

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Support the coordination and delivery of campaigns, events & projects in alignment with departmental, regional & national initiatives.
    • Ensure the integration of equal opportunities is imbedded across all aspects of project, campaign and L&D planning.
    • Work alongside branches and employers to establish joint working committees to recruit and organise members.
    • Recruit & maintain a network of Learning Reps and other Community reps and support through coaching and engagement. 
    • Manage focus groups for ULRs & Community groups working with the team.
    • Oversee systems and procedures to ensure accurate engagement data is compiled for bespoke reports and learner records.
    • Work with regional offices and staff to identify and facilitate high quality bespoke training for our members.
    • Attending meetings, taking notes, and progressing actions as required.
    • Administration and maintenance of member records & achievements on internal management information systems and management of department’s event planner.
    • Support and engage with branches and regions to communicate & promote training opportunities and ‘In Your Community’ work.
    • Maintain good internal and external relationship management and engagement to establish good working inter-department relationships and build upon partnerships with external affiliates.
    • Represent Head of Community Learn at various external events and meetings.
    • Administration and other tasks as directed by the Head of Community Learn.

  • FE Lecturer in Engineering

    This role is employed by University of Derby but works in partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd. Due to the nature of work that Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd conducts and the protection of certain assets, some roles within the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA) require post-holders to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance.  

    This role does not currently require SC clearance, and this will not be a condition of appointment to this role. However, please be aware that there may be a future requirement for the successful candidate/s to undertake a SC check should any change in circumstances render this necessary due to development of the NSA over the coming years.  

    About the role 

    We are looking to recruit an Engineering Lecturer with an Electrical/Electronics background to join the apprenticeship team at Buxton & Leek College part of the University of Derby. We welcome applications from candidates with engineering industry experience looking to start a career in teaching.  You will be expected to teach the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard at the Nuclear Skills Academy based in Derby. 

    The successful applicant will be required to prepare, deliver, demonstrate, review, track & monitor and assess various aspects of the apprenticeship to Rolls Royce apprentices.

    The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. We can offer support to those looking to start their careers in teaching who have an Engineering degree or professional qualification in Mechatronics or equivalent qualification.

    You should have demonstrable experience of the Engineering industry. If you have an assessor and/or verifier award this would also be considered. 

    On appointment the job title for this position will be FE Lecturer in Mechatronics Engineering.
