Job Title: Homeless Support Officer

The organisation
In this Homeless Support Officer opportunity in Wolverhampton, you will join a reputable charity working with 16 year olds who find themselves living in temporary accommodation, needing support to help them transition to an affordable living after leaving the service.
Key responsibilities of a Homeless Support Officer
In this Housing Support Worker job, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting customers with housing support - applying for housing benefits / universal credit
- Dealing with rent arras / evictions when needed / service charge
- Encouraging customers to sustain a long term tenancy at the end of their stay - helping them apply for jobs / getting back Into college / learning how to budget appropriately
- Carrying out routine health and safety / well-being checks
- Also helping signpost to other agencies to help with mental health / substance misuse / domestic violence
Skills & experience of a Homeless Support Officer
- Proven track record of working within supported housing / homelessness
- Able to work flexibly over 8am-8pm during the week
- A valid DBS child and adult cleared Issued within 12 months or on the update service
