Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting for a Senior FPGA Engineer on a permanent basis, on behalf of our client.

Salary: Up to £65K

Location: Bristol, Birmingham, London, Aldershot, Epsom, Cheltenham.

Working Model: Hybrid, no set days in the office.

The Senior FPGA Engineer plays a vital role in solving the organisation's biggest challenges. You'll get involved across the entire lifecycle, developing, delivering, and supporting bespoke solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. The nature of our systems development projects may require some time working on client sites.

Experience & Skills:

  • Either hold a degree in a relevant STEM subject or have proven and demonstrable work experience within a relevant area.
  • Have significant experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to capture and analyse customer requirements to define FPGA specifications and requirements.
  • Have significant experience of designing FPGA solutions following industry best practice using hardware description languages.
  • Be experienced with at least one FPGA development tool suite.
  • Be experienced in optimising FPGA code for maximum performance and efficiency.
  • Be capable of debugging FPGA designs.
  • Have experience of conducting system integration and validation testing.
  • Be comfortable producing reports and technical documentation to a high standard.
  • Be a strong collaborator, able to work effectively in a small team where frequent communication is essential.
  • Be pro-active and a self-starter, able to work independently where necessary.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest FPGA technologies and best practices.
  • Experience developing high integrity systems to comply with standards (e.g., DO-254) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Duties Include:

  • Develop FPGA solutions and prototypes, working independently or in small teams.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver complex solutions.
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and Product Owners.
  • Support the growth and improvement of the FPGA development capability.
  • Mentor junior staff to aid their development.
