Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Helpline Worker on a temp to perm basis. The position will be based in Birmingham. For further information about this position please apply.

Job Title: Domestic Abuse Helpline Worker

Job Type: Temporary for 12 weeks then permanent position to be offered.

Location: B5 Birmingham

Hourly Rate: £12

Hours: Monday - Friday 09:30 - 17:30

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide emotional and practical support to women accessing the service, including risk and needs assessment and safety and support planning
  • To participate in a rota to cover helpline phone coverage and drop in appointments at the hub and across community venues as necessary
  • Provide one to one telephone support to victims or survivors of domestic abuse.

Requirements

  • Experience with front line support
  • Previously employed as a helpline worker
  • Valid DBS check

    • Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
    • Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self determination.


    Required Experience:

    • Clear Enhanced DBS
    • The ability to effectively engage with clients about their drug use through verbal and non-verbal means.
    • An understanding of the complex needs experienced by those with a history of problematic alcohol or drug misuse.
    • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures.
