Service Desk Analyst

Job Description

Morgan Hunt is working with a leading and reputable public sector organisation to recruit a Service Desk Analyst on a 6 month contract. This position would require the candidate to be based in Birmingham and be willing to come into the office 3-5 days per week.

Reporting to the IT Service Desk Team Leader, the Service Desk Analyst is on the front line of IT Support, representing the IT department and promoting customer service excellence.

You will be responsible for handling incoming phone calls from business users regarding IT faults and service requests from a range of users within the business. Your role will be to provide solutions and first time fixes where able, triaging and assigning to other teams where not. The role is key to the IT department and directly influences the user experience.

Role responsibilities:

  • Answering and logging calls made to the IT Service Desk by users in a professional and courteous manner
  • Following Service Desk protocols and playbooks for the consistent execution of tasks
  • Handling and processing all incoming tickets
  • Provide technical solutions to users, with the aim of applying a first-time-fix solution wherever possible
  • Undertaking user admin processes (adds, moves and changes); ensuring that all internal policies are met, and a consistent model is maintained

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Active Directory Experience
  • ITIL exposure/experience
  • Strong customer service experience
  • 1st line support experience highly valuable and desired
  • Experience managing the life cycle of all problems that have occurred or could occur in delivering a service
  • The ability to quickly learn new technical concepts

The details:

  • 6 month contract Inside IR35
  • Birmingham based: 3-5 days a week in the office
  • £177.97 daily rate

    • Have experience of conducting system integration and validation testing.

    • Be a strong collaborator, able to work effectively in a small team where frequent communication is essential.
    • Be pro-active and a self-starter, able to work independently where necessary.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest FPGA technologies and best practices.
    • Experience developing high integrity systems to comply with standards (e.g., DO-254) would be advantageous but is not essential.

    Duties Include:

    • Develop FPGA solutions and prototypes, working independently or in small teams.
    • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver complex solutions.
    • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and Product Owners.
    • Support the growth and improvement of the FPGA development capability.
    • Mentor junior staff to aid their development.

  • 2nd Line Support Engineer

    Morgan Hunt is working with a reputable public sector organisation to recruit a 2nd Line Support Engineer on a contractual basis. This position can be worked through a hybrid model and will be based in Birmingham.

    You will be an experience IT support Specialist. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in supporting medium-sized organisations, bringing in-depth expertise across a range of platforms and tools, from Microsoft Endpoint Manager (InTune) to Office 365 Administration. This role will be key in supporting the organisation through a period of transition to an outsourced provider as well as key to the growth of the organisation.

    The role:

    • Provide top-tier IT support tailored to the needs of medium-sized organisations.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
    • Deliver support and administration for Microsoft Endpoint Manager (InTune).
    • Manage device configurations, updates, and security policies through InTune.
    • Offer dedicated support for desktop systems, handling software and hardware issues.
    • Administer, manage and support Office 365 applications and users.
    • Address any access, email, or application-related issues within the Microsoft/Office 365 suite.
    • Assist with SharePoint administration, permissions and troubleshooting.
    • Provide support for a variety of devices including laptops and mobile devices, ensuring they are secure, updated and optimised for performance.
    • Handling Starters, Movers and Leavers - setting up devices and running through inductions are required.
    • Assist in monitoring and mitigating potential security threats.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Hands on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (InTune).
    • Proficiency in desktop support and troubleshooting.
    • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office 365 administration and support.
    • Familiarity with SharePoint administration and support.
    • Experience supporting a range of devices, including laptops and mobile devices.
    • Solid understanding of IT security principles.
    • ITIL Foundation certification or knowledge of ITIL processes is advantageous.

  • Azure Cloud Engineer

    We are in search of a Cloud Engineer with a focus on servers, Azure Virtual Desktop, certificate management, update management, and potentially InTune. The selected individual will be integral in shaping our cloud strategy and ensuring the reliability, security and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure.

    The role:

    • Design, deploy and manage server infrastructure in Azure.
    • Ensure servers are optimised for performance, cost and resilience.
    • Design, implement and manage Azure Virtual Desktop instances.
    • Oversee the provisioning, deployment, renewal, and revocation of digital certificates.
    • Support with implementation of SCEP solution to improve overall device and network security.
    • Regularly review, plan and apply updates across all Azure services and resources.
    • Understanding of InTune, MDM and MAM (Desirable)
    • Manage devices and applications using Microsoft InTune (Desirable)
    • Work closely with IT, security and operations teams to ensure seamless and secure cloud operations.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Solid experience with Azure, particularly Azure Virtual Desktop.
    • Proficiency in server management and certificate handling.
    • Experience with update management in a cloud environment.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft InTune (Desirable)
    • Relevant Azure or cloud certifications are a benefit.
