Job Title: Housing Support Worker

Job Type: Temporary on-going

Location: Leicester - travel is essential

Industry: Social Care - Homelessness / ex-offenders

*This role requires a car driver as travel across the Leicester area is necessary, will need business insurance*

In this Housing Support Worker opportunity in Leicester, you will join charity helping vulnerable adults, gain access to temporary accommodation as they exit the prison service. The role Is to help customers manage their own money accordingly to maintain their tenancy longer term whilst also helping them overcome external barriers such as mental health or substance misuse.

Key responsibilities

In this Housing Support Worker job, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a small caseload of clients living in temporary accommodation. Assisting them with housing support / applying for benefits - caseload will consist of complex needs
• Working with the housing services manager to support tenants to pay rent and service charges - including advice on their finances
• Helping promote independence of the tenants living in the temporary accommodation
• You will be responsible to maintain health and safety procedures on site - making sure all customers / staff are safe and free from harm
• Linking in with other services to help them overcome any barriers such as mental health / substance misuse / domestic violence
• Advocating on behalf of service user in court / probation service to ensure they stay on a positive track

Skills & experience of a Housing Support Worker

• Proven track record of working within supported housing / homelessness
• you will need to have worked In a senior / team leaders post previously
• Able to work flexibly over 8am-10am during the week and 1 weekend a month
• A valid DBS child and adult cleared Issued within 12 months or on the update service
