About the Role

Harrogate College is a values led college that intends to change peoples lives through high quality education. The college is community focused using its employer network to shape the curriculum to meet local needs. The college offers a wide range of vocational and technical education for 16-18 year olds, adults and apprentices.

The Deputy Directors will lead all aspects of curriculum with line management responsibility for the college management team and budgetary reasonability for curriculum income and expenditure.

The college focuses on being responsive to skills agenda in North Yorkshire, therefore the Deputy Director will work with local and regional stakeholders to ensure the curriculum is aligned to the local skills improvement plan, priority growth sectors for North Yorkshire.

 

What You Will Do

  • The Deputy Director will line management the college management team and lead all aspects of the curriculum, quality and student experience. This will include ensuring the curriculum intent is aligned to local and regional priorities, that the curriculum implementation is high quality so all students enjoy their time in college, make progress and develop the knowledge, behaviour and skills to progress to positive destinations.
  • The Deputy Director, will lead quality improvement across the curriculum and promote a learning culture for all staff through academic and industrial updating, leading to high performing teams.
  • There is budgetary responsibility for the income and expenditure generated through the curriculum. This will require the Deputy Director to work with the Principal and finance colleagues to ensure the curriculum budget is managed through the year to meet target.
  • As a key stakeholder in Harrogate, the role will require the Deputy Director to represent the college with local and regional stakeholders to ensure the college is able to deliver its mission and change lives through high quality education.  

 

About You

  • You will be an excellent communicator, able to build relationships internally and externally, while role modelling leadership that supports the college to lives its values to deliver its mission.
  • You will have experience of managing in at least two of the following curriculum areas, study programmes, adults and apprenticeships. You will have experience of curriculum development, successful quality improvement and working with stakeholders for the benefit of the student experience.  
  • You will have budgetary experience, be able to use data to support decision making and feel comfortable to make decisions that supports the colleges financial sustainability and maximises the student experience.

    Working in a team on a rota basis (06:30-15:00 and 14:30-22:30 rotating weekly), our Facilities Officers open and close the college buildings, assist with managing student behaviour, supervise and delegate cleaning duties to a team of cleaning staff, assist with any caretaker/porter services and any minor maintenance related issues and ensure the college is a safe and secure environment for learners, staff and other users.

    Facilities Officers are trained to become part of the College’s First Aid rota when on duty, for which there is an additional payment of £500 per annum (paid monthly) once training is completed.

    Facilities Officers are also required to be on the On-Call escalation rota for the buildings on a rotational basis (currently 1 week in 6) and work a Saturday shift with paid breaks (currently 1 week in 6).

    About the Person
    We require a flexible person who can work independently, and as part of a team, to provide and maintain the security, cleanliness, and efficient running of the college buildings. Previous experience in a similar role is not required, however, the successful candidate will need to be hardworking and dedicated to learn from on-the-job-training. Full training will be supplied, where required/needed.

    York College is seeking to appoint a Mathematics Tutor to join the Foundation English and Maths team. You will be a dedicated and motivated professional with a passion for helping students improve their numeracy skills. You will also contribute to the delivery strategies to improve the delivery and quality of Mathematics teaching and learning for our 16-19 cohort.

    The role is fixed-term until June 2025.

    About the person
    You will be qualified up to at least Level 3 in Mathematics and a relevant degree qualification (or equivalent) would be desirable. In addition, you must possess a recognised Level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or display a willingness to work towards achieving this.

    You will be an enthusiastic, flexible and innovative teacher with experience of delivering Mathematics, preferably in a FE context. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching the new 9-1 GCSE Mathematics specification and have taught GCSE Mathematics to a wide range of students. Excellent administration and interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team are also essential in this role.

    The working pattern will be over 5 days Monday – Friday

    We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the College’s busy commercial catering outlets. The role involves serving customers, till operation, food preparation, replenishing stock, and ensuring the equipment and premises are cleaned to a high standard. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while occasionally working under pressure to deliver food efficiently and on time, as part of a team, this is the role for you.

    We are looking for a great team player with a positive, can-do attitude, and a flexible approach to work. Experience of food preparation and working in a catering environment would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided.  You should have a passion for delivering friendly and efficient customer service.
