HR Assistant - Manchester

We have an exciting opportunity available for a HR Assistant to join a well-known College based in Manchester. This assignment will start ASAP, 6-month FTC, paying up to £23,500 p.a.

The role HR Assistant

  • To provide generalist HR Administration across the College, including Salary Changes - Changes to contracts/T&Cs - prepare documents relating to formal meetings.
  • Recruitment - write and place adverts, create application packs for vacancies, work with outside agencies, assist with job interviews, liaise with the line manager and candidate throughout the process.
  • Obtain employment references and carry out DBS checks. Issue contracts of employment, Issue new starter paperwork, liaise with Line Manager to set up IT Network systems access.
  • First point of contact for L&D enquiries, provide Administrative support for L&D activities, including inductions, mandatory training.
  • To support the HR Business Partners and managers in managing sickness absence by keeping them informed on the progress of employees on long term sickness absence and monitor RTW completion rates.
  • To ensure annual leave, maternity, paternity, and adoption cases are recorded and processed effectively and that employees are kept fully informed or their entitlements.
  • Responsible for taking inbound absence calls/emails and accurately logging onto the HR System and advising staff of the reporting procedure throughout their absence.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge.

  • Knowledge of best practice in specific HR areas (Recruitment and Selection, Staff Development, Absence Management)
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding and DBS processes and procedures
  • Experience of using IT software and packages including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint packages.
  • Experience of carrying out HR administration including processing sickness and leave records.
  • Ability to carry out recruitment and induction administration.
  • An DBS will be required for this role.
