Our client

Morgan Hunt is delighted to be working with a national charity who have recently opened a brand-new service in Winsford, Cheshire. We are looking for several staff for this service on a temporary basis for at least 3 months whilst permanent recruitment takes place. We can offer full time hours with a mixture of shift patterns available dependent on candidate's availability including day shifts and afternoon / sleep shifts. Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for candidates that are flexible as weekend work will be required.

The service

The service supports 16 - 18-year-olds who are leaving care. Each Young Person is placed within a trainer flat, with staff on hand 24 hours a day for additional support. Young people are encouraged and supported to develop their independent living skills with the aim of becoming tenancy ready.

The role - Young Persons Support Worker

  • Supporting 5 young people in their own flats to become tenancy ready.
  • Supporting with things like independent living skills, education, training or employment, budgeting, cooking, attending appointments, and managing finances.
  • Providing practical and emotional support to young people.
  • Supporting young people to develop their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Signposting to external organisations for additional support as and when required.
  • Liaising with other professionals to ensure each young person is supported in the best way possible.
  • Health and safety / building management.
  • Keeping accurate records around young people's progress.
  • Completing support plans and risk assessments and updating as required.

The candidate

  • Experience of supporting vulnerable people in a similar setting.
  • Experience of working within children's residential services / youth work would be advantages.
  • The ability to use initiative and manage challenging behaviours as lone working will be required for this role.
  • The ability to complete support plans and risk assessments.
  • A good level of IT literacy to keep accurate records of young people's progress.

As a Young Persons Support Worker, an Enhanced DBS is required which must be dated within the last 12 months or on the update service.
