About the role

As the University's Nursery Manager, you'll lead by example, collaborating with your team to ensure the safety and age-appropriate play experiences for all children. While also fostering an environment that empowers your leadership team to excel.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership: Provide leadership to the nursery team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence in childcare.
  • EYFS: You’ll be central to ensuring that we are meeting, and wherever possible exceeding, EYFS requirements. 
  • People Management: Recruit, train, mentor, and develop nursery staff, ensuring a high standard of care and professionalism.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, caregivers, and the local community, fostering open communication and involvement in children's education.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the nursery complies with all regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and stays on top of current developments in childcare policies and practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a commitment to continuous improvement, regularly assessing and enhancing nursery practices.

What we're looking for in you:

  • A creative thinker with a focus on results and quality and a real commitment to ensuring the very best outcomes for each child and family using our setting.
  • Demonstrable experience in an Early Years setting, with proven leadership and management capabilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of Early Years requirements and other legal and best practice standards with the drive and enthusiasm to support colleagues to deliver high quality childcare.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to safeguarding our children, ensuring their care and education are second to none. 
  • Hold a relevant childcare qualification (minimum NVQ Level 3) and a clear passion for early years education.

    We are looking for a passionate teacher who has expertise in delivering GCSE Maths and/or Functional Skills (Entry, L1 and L2). The successful candidate will join an up-and-coming team of like-minded professionals who care deeply about the development of numeracy within a Further Education setting. Ideally, you should have experience working with learners in a post-16 setting and have an ethos centred around care and development.

    Any experience from candidates with standards verification, moderation or marking examinations would be welcomed.

    The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in teaching and demonstrate commitment to achieving the best for each student. To support the successful member of staff, there is a highly effective college CPD programme in place that encompasses the development of digital skills as well as teaching and learning; in addition to this, candidates are encouraged to undertake external CPD funded by the college.  

    The post requires a qualification in a related field, and candidates should hold, or be willing to work towards, a PGCE or qualified teacher status.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    • To undertake all forms of pedagogic work, including classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses, and student placements. 
    • To conduct curriculum development work including identification of consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials.
    • Preparation and marking are undertaken to ensure the associated organisational and administrative work. 
    • To support and participate in in-service training and staff development programmes based on individual and College needs assessment. 

    Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
    • Experience working within a FE environment

    About the role:

     

    Your role will involve assessing and supporting students in their workplace to ensure they meet or exceed targets to enable them to achieve their qualifications. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with Colleagues, Students and Stakeholders both internally and externally.

     

    You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a permanent basis and must be qualified to NVQ 3 as a plumbing and heating engineer with 5 years industry experience. This role requires travel to the workplace of our students and as such you must have access to your won vehicle and hold a driving licence.
