Salary:                     £22,905 - £45,079 – per annum

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Installation Lecturer within the Building Services department at Cardiff and Vale College. This role will be based across all sites.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Undertaking of all educational work such as classroom teaching (which includes workshop etc.), tutorial work associated with outreach, residential and open and distance learning courses and student placements;
  • Undertaking all organisational and administrative work associated with the above, preparation and marking;
  • Undertaking appropriate student welfare and academic or non-academic counselling responsibilities;
  • Undertaking appropriate student welfare and academic or non-academic counselling responsibilities;
  • An involvement in marketing, i.e. identification of consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials, publicity and public relations;
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking of student progress and entitlement to learning support provision;
  • Welsh language skills would be desirable for this role.

Requirements for this role are at least a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation, a recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards one, an Assessor Award and a Verifier Award or a willingness to work towards them and proven experience in the field of Electrical Installation.

    We are looking for a passionate teacher who has expertise in delivering GCSE Maths and/or Functional Skills (Entry, L1 and L2). The successful candidate will join an up-and-coming team of like-minded professionals who care deeply about the development of numeracy within a Further Education setting. Ideally, you should have experience working with learners in a post-16 setting and have an ethos centred around care and development.

    Any experience from candidates with standards verification, moderation or marking examinations would be welcomed.

    The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in teaching and demonstrate commitment to achieving the best for each student. To support the successful member of staff, there is a highly effective college CPD programme in place that encompasses the development of digital skills as well as teaching and learning; in addition to this, candidates are encouraged to undertake external CPD funded by the college.  

    The post requires a qualification in a related field, and candidates should hold, or be willing to work towards, a PGCE or qualified teacher status.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    • To undertake all forms of pedagogic work, including classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses, and student placements. 
    • To conduct curriculum development work including identification of consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials.
    • Preparation and marking are undertaken to ensure the associated organisational and administrative work. 
    • To support and participate in in-service training and staff development programmes based on individual and College needs assessment. 

    Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
    • Experience working within a FE environment
