The Construction and Engineering Department at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor (LL40 2SW) is a forward-thinking department offering courses in a range of disciplines. Teaching and learning take place with access to industry standard equipment and in modern facilities. Within the department, we have two sites; Hafan (Pwllheli) and CaMDA (Dolgellau), which both deliver Engineering qualifications.

We are looking for a full-time member staff to join the Engineering side of the department; to help develop learners’ electrical skills. We currently have excellent mechanical engineering, production engineering, machining and welding lecturers, and we would like to build on this to include electrical/electronic engineering, as well as robotics and PLC’s.   The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high standards of teaching and learning and give ongoing support, advice and guidance to students that promotes success.

learners to achieve to the best of their ability.  

2. Provide excellent extracurricular experiences for our learners.

3. Maintain the high standards of the provision with the support given to the learners.

4. Ensure that the Grŵp’s policies and procedures are followed.

5. Supporting learners to succeed in order to achieve their targets or higher, challenging and stretching

our learners.

    About the role:

     

    Your role will involve assessing and supporting students in their workplace to ensure they meet or exceed targets to enable them to achieve their qualifications. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with Colleagues, Students and Stakeholders both internally and externally.

     

    You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a permanent basis and must be qualified to NVQ 3 as a plumbing and heating engineer with 5 years industry experience. This role requires travel to the workplace of our students and as such you must have access to your won vehicle and hold a driving licence.

They are seeking a professional who will work with other members of their team to develop design solutions appropriate to the context, budget and aesthetic requirements of the architectural projects.



    The Role

    • Offers excellent career progression and we are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, driven and willing to contribute to the long term success and development of the architectural team.
    • Responsible for providing guidance on design and technical issues.
    • Develop designs, to ensure an exemplary solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines and budgetary requirements.
    • Coordinates design intent with other disciplines.
    • Integrates engineering requirements, site surveys and field review information, adhering to applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
    • Prepares design reports, drawings and models following office standards.
    • Performs site visitations to determine compliance with construction documents; identifies any deviations and liaises with owner and contactor to resolve issues in a timely manner.
    • Reviews project products, services, and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant jurisdictional codes and corporate quality controls.



    Qualifications/Experience

    • ARB registered Architect.
    • Experience in the Defence or Education sector is key.
    • Experience in designing and running your own jobs.
    • A strong team player willing to participate in business growth by maximising opportunities and being willing and able to support junior members.
    • Knowledge of Scottish and English Building regulations would be beneficial.
