Finance Assistant

£12 - £14 per hour

Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Finance Assistant on a temporary basis for a duration of 4 months. The position will be based in Glasgow with a hybrid working approach-1 day per week will be expected to be worked in Glasgow.


  • Support preparation of accruals and other general ledger journals
  • Prepare budget and forecast journals using relevant backup
  • Review large lists of transactions and support recharges, corrections and reporting
  • Ensure audit trail/backups available and support transactions through obtaining evidence eg invoices and calculations
  • Prepare and analyse reports and provide summary of the findings
  • Support income and expenditure report reconciliations
  • Support delivery of complete, accurate and timely monthend timetable
  • Process any purchase orders (POs) received ensuring information provided is accurate
  • Ensure audit trail of budgetary sign off has been obtained for PO requisitioners
  • Review and update the procurement contract register with PO details ensuring data is correct, recorded, accessible and up to date
  • Support colleagues with raising and amending POs
  • Assist procurement managers and officers with specific activities to support efficient procurement such as reviewing of documentation and inputting data onto the procurement system


  • Fully rolled forward month end reports and templates
  • Accurate expenditure entries on accounting system
  • Provision of information and undertaking of analysis
  • Posting of journals to finance system
  • Direct running and refresh of reports from finance systems
  • Direct point of contact for PO queries
  • Approve / reject POs
