Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a passionate, International conservation charity who are looking for a HR Manager to start ASAP. This role will be for 3 - 6 months to begin with, mainly working from home with some travel (once per week) into the central based London office. The role is a varied HR Manager role reporting into the HR Director managing the operational and some strategic duties of the HR team. This role is moving very quickly and interviews will be taking place ASAP!

Responsibilities and duties of the HR Manager:

  • To ensure the delivery and implementation of the operational HR service.

  • To support the development and implementation of the Human Resources Strategy.

  • To provide advice and guidance on employee relations/change management matters to managers and staff across the organisation. This will include but is not limited to disciplinary and grievance processes, ill-health, redundancy processes capability and maternity.

  • To support specific HR/change management/restructure.

  • To support managers with recruitment and selection processes as required ensuring that innovative and cost effective solutions are utilised for the recruitment of staff, that appropriate assessment methods are used and safeguarding procedures are adhered to.

  • Ensuring that HR Policies and Procedures are kept updated in accordance with review timescales and in line with legislation and business needs and provide managers with the training to utilise them.

  • To undertake specific HR projects

Skills and experience needed for the HR Manager role:

  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice

  • Previous experience of working successfully in an HR Manager role, including:
    • The ability to provide pragmatic and effective advice, and solutions to difficult issues,
    • Case management (in the areas of ill-health, capability, discipline and grievance etc),
    • Recruitment and selection processes,
    • Effectively using Human Resource Information Systems,
    • Training and mentoring of HR staff

  • Demonstrable skills in the following areas:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
    • Negotiation and influencing skills
    • Strong organisational, planning and project management skills with a proven ability to manage competing demands effectively
