Finance Officer

Location: Central London

Contract: Permanent; Full-time.

Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum

Morgan Hunt are proud to be supporting a fantastic Arts Charity based in Central London. This organisation is a performing arts and concert venue situated at a fantastic Grade II* listed location. They have welcomed legendary artists from all over the world to perform in their unique spaces.

About the role

As part of their team, the Finance Officer will have a mixed portfolio of tasks ranging from purchase and sales ledger responsibilities, to income accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.

Across all these areas you will provide first class support for the smooth running of the Finance department.

Responsibilities

You will report to the Finance Manager, and be responsible for:

  • Working with Finance Manager to prepare accruals and prepayment schedules
  • Prepare nominal journals for all streams of income across the organisation
  • Be responsible for with retail income postings (Bars/Restaurant)
  • Take responsibility for a range of Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Take responsibility for the processing of bank transactions across multiple accounts and the preparation of regular bank reconciliations
  • Collate, check and reconcile figures for cash and cashless transactions performed by other departments (Bars, Studios, Box Office, Cloakroom, Merchandising)
  • Oversee the issue and recording of petty cash
  • Maintain the purchase ledgers for the Charity's two trading entities including:
  • Processing purchase invoices (mainly automated)
  • Preparing payment runs in line with agreed creditor terms,
  • Liaising with suppliers re queries,
  • Assisting with the roll of a new Purchase order System
  • Oversee the reconciliation of departmental business credit card expenditure
  • Support the Assistant Management Accountant with Sales Invoicing and related debtors chasing

Qualifications & Experience

  • It is desirable if you are working towards a recognised accounting qualification
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willing to take responsibility for all areas of their work
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience of using accounting software
  • Prior experience of purchase ledger function and related tasks
  • Working knowledge of Excel
