Gym Instructors

Up to £4001.92 per annum
Richmond upon Thames

The YMCA St Paul's Group are looking to recruit 2 Gym Instructors to work 8 hours per week which may include weekends, evenings and bank holidays.

The main purpose of this role is to work as part of a team providing a creative and motivating environment within our Health and Wellbeing Department. Contributing to the day-to-day running of YMCA St Paul's Group gyms; inducting and supervising gym users, providing for individual and collective health and wellbeing goals. Conduct personal training, and providing a safe and effective environment whilst being friendly and approachable. If suitably qualified, deliver and assist with the exercise referral programme.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Provide at all times an exceptional level of customer care to members and public alike by adhering to YMCA customer care standards.
  • Assist in or conduct tours as required by Membership or Reception staff. Be fully informed of sales and membership procedures, prices and terms.
  • If appropriately qualified (level 3 or equivalent), to recruit and advise personal training clients outside normal working hours.
  • Teach Group Exercise Classes and gym workshops (as appropriately qualified) for a range of diverse users, as set out in the YMCA Programme or at special events.
  • Able to proficiently use IT systems, including working with databases, Microsoft office, email, internet

Applicants should have:

  • Experience of working in an health and wellbeing facility
  • A level 2 fitness qualification approved by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS)
  • Experience of working in a team environment
  • Knowledge of the health and wellbeing industry and of community development programmes
  • Customer and quality focus
  • Ability to collaborate
