Addressing the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people in Lambeth, Black Thrive exist to improve mental health liberation, empowerment and equality outcomes for Black people.
Black Thrive Lambeth has developed a new co-designed culturally appropriate peer support advocacy service model. Led by people using their own lived experiences of mental health issues, Black Thrive Lambeth provide a space where individuals feel respected, accepted and understood.
This role is specifically designed for Black people with lived experience of mental health difficulties. You will use your experiences and skills to provide peer support to an allocated group of service users experiencing difficulties within the community and the ward.
You will use cultural aspects of lived experience to promote positive esteem and recovery. You will develop trusting relationships with Black (African and Caribbean) service users.
We are looking for someone with personal experience of long-term mental health illness / issues. You will have an understanding of personal recovery and the ability to impart this to aid recovery from a cultural perspective.
We are after someone with a committment to working in an anti-racist and anti-oppressive way.
We are recruiting black male and female applicants (of African and Caribbean heritage) under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 and Part 1.
This is a full time fixed term contract until March 2024.
