Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Maintenance Officer on a temporary basis. The position will be based in Croydon. For further information about this position please apply.

Purpose and scope of job role

1.1 To provide an effective planned and reactive maintenance service for the college to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors across both campuses.

1.2 To be an active member of the Premises and Maintenance team and wider IT & Estates division in order to deliver first class services to all stakeholder and respond effectively to feedback.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

2.1 To undertake maintenance repairs to the fabric or the building under the direction of the Premises and Maintenance Supervisor and directly from the Estates Helpdesk system.

2.2 To carry out emergency and health & safety related repairs working out of hours as required.

23 To carry out all types of carpentry works in relation to repair and refurbishment work.

2.4 To undertake minor construction and refurbishment works such as erection of stud partitioning walls and painting and decorating as required.

2.5 To install basic fixtures and fittings such as doors, shelving assemblies and flat packed furniture as required.

2.6 To maintain all internal and manual doors, inclusive of locks, handles, hinges and closing mechanisms.

2.7 Make initial investigations into utility issues such as heating, power, gas and water issues reporting to and liaising with internal or external facilities providers to secure a full safe repair or isolation.

2.8 To work alongside IT Services as necessary to aid IT installation works including necessary trunking and fixtures.

2.9 To maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times in accordance statutory, health and safety and safeguarding regulations.

2.10 Responsible for maintenance tools, stocks and materials for the Premises and Maintenance team assisting with budget setting processes to ensure value for money.

2.11 To work alongside the Premises Team assisting with duties as required, including locking-up, portering and delivery / postal responsibilities.

2.12 To work closely with the H&S Advisor and actively carry out regular H&S compliance checks including water hygiene and fire safety reporting any defects or H&S issues and attending specific H&S training as necessary.

2.13 To undertake an active role with emergency procedures such as evacuations, lockdowns and drills to maintain the safety of all College students, staff and visitors.
