Site Supervisor

£24591 - £26729 per annum £3500 shift allowance

Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Site Supervisor on a permanent basis. The position will be based in East London and is paying a basic on £24,591-26,729 £3500 shift allowance.


Job Purpose

Provide an effective, seamless, and efficient Estates and Facilities Management service to any Newham College site to meet and exceed the expectations of NCFE stakeholders and especially Learners.

Provision of a front of house EFM service team to deal with the day-to-day operations at any College premises in line with the EFM strategic policies and procedures.

Key duties and responsibilities of the post

  • The following duties and responsibilities are intended to give a broad indication of the variety of tasks that the post holder may be asked to undertake and are expressed in sufficient detail to distinguish the grade of the post.
  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate a can-do attitude and a hands-on approach when required.
  • Additional job requirements may be added in the section headed 'other duties applicable to all staff working at Newham College'.

  • To assist with the provision of the day-to-day operation of the EFM service; specific responsibilities will include:
  • Supervision of EFM staff and contractors as and when required
  • Porterage, postal, good delivery service, and logistics
  • Planned Maintenance system of works
  • Reactive maintenance works
  • Operation of alarm systems associated with fire and security
  • Emergency response
  • Energy monitoring
  • Provision of out of hours response
  • Compliance monitoring for buildings and systems of works, including water quality and life critical systems.
  • Quality standards maintained and monitored for the classroom learning environment
  • Health and safety compliance
  • Communications at all levels within the organisation
  • Completion of rooms set ups around the campuses
  • IT moves around all college buildings
  • Maintenance of buildings fabric as per building requirements.
  • Act as first line Audio Visual Champions


  • Comply with the College health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Undertake fire marshal/warden training and duties.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on health and safety matters in all relevant areas.
  • Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of building lifesaving systems including emergency lighting, firefighting systems and safety equipment.
  • Undertake first aid training and first aid attendance/rota duties.
  • Deal with any immediate health and safety risk or threat to staff, students, visitors and contractors.
  • Report any breach of the College's health and safety policies and procedures to their line manager or senior management in their absence
  • Comply with the College's safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Support College initiatives and aspirations to achieve Net Zero carbon.


  • Educated to NVQ Level 2 in numeracy and literacy.
  • Qualifications relating to building services and/or trade maintenance would be advantageous.
  • IOSH Qualification
  • Hold a current UK driving licence
  • Good knowledge of plumbing
  • Good knowledge of building maintenance
  • IT level 2 qualification will be advantageous
