Job description

Morgan Hunt is working with one of the highest performing Further Education Colleges in Greater London to recruit a Deputy Director of ESOL on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a hugely successful department and College as Deputy Director.

The ESOL department at the College has superb achievement rates of over 92%, well about the national average and has done for over 10 years, this position is crucial to help the provision continue this success.

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, the postholder has line management responsibility for 4 Managers, from Curriculum Manager to Head of Department level and a team of circa 60 teaching staff.

The role will provide leadership and management skills to ensure that all staff and are effectively supported, directed and performance managed to improve the learner experience and deliver agreed Key Performance Indicators, help drive financial objectives and efficiencies for the identified areas and contribute to overall college success aligned to the college strategic plan and college partnerships as agreed by the Director of Curriculum.

  • Managing teaching, learning and assessment]
  • Collaborating cross college and identifying business opportunities within the borough

Essential applicant criteria;

Qualifications:

  • English and maths at GCSE grade or above or a Functional Skills Qualification in English and maths at Level 2
  • Experienced and qualified teacher in subject specialism of ESOL, holding a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Management qualification (desirable)

Experience:

  • A successful track record of continuous improvement in managing staff and teams to the successful achievement of KPIs and support a journey to being excellent in delivering qualifications in ESOL.
  • A demonstratable track record of educational achievements, retention, and learner success within ESOL education and/or Community programmes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the curriculum planning around Ofsted "intent" based on national guidelines.
  • Setting a culture of a high expectation of performance via observation and staff development and ensuring learner success, high standards of standards of teaching and learning and assessment.
