Temporary - 6 months

London, WC1H with remote working

£15.66 per hour minimum holiday pay

Part time - 29 hours per week

Morgan Hunt are working with a University who are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join their team on a 6 month, temporary basis.

Responsibilities:

Some of your duties and responsibilities as an Accounts Assistant will include:

• Assist with the production of monthly management accounting reports, including the preparation of reporting data from the system, Axiom EPM and monitoring departmental account balances. This will include assisting the Business Partnering team with variance analysis and other data analysis.
• Support administration of the staff recruitment approval process across the portfolio of departments
• Monitor requests in MyHR, working with departments to resolve any requests in query and authorise new contracts in the MyHR system after having checked these posts have been approved in line with recruitment process, liaising with the Management Accountant/Business Partner and other relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
• Raise sales invoices to external organisations in accordance with the terms of the agreement and processing sales ledger journals, requiring accuracy of preparation and an understanding of VAT issues.
• Process journals for allocations, internal transfers, accruals, prepayments, deferrals, error corrections and maintaining a systematic/ organised process with clear backing documentation for audit trail.
• Provide assistance with routine budget and accounting adjustments (preparation of journals) required at period end.
• Investigate, monitor and clear suspense transactions to the correct cost centre within month end deadlines.
• Manage the accounts code log process, reviewing requests for accuracy and in line with activity, approving within service standards.
• Administer the Professional Services Finance team's general inbox, responding professionally to finance queries or forwarding them to the relevant individual or team as appropriate.
• Support the Management Accountant/Business Partner, Finance Manager and Head of Finance on project work as required.
• Contribute to team meetings and initiatives adopting a collaborative and supportive approach to team working across Professional Services Finance.
• Maintain key member records in MyFinance for access to project codes across the PSVP portfolio.

Requirements:

• Background within Higher Education or Public Sector
• Actively studying for an accountancy qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA (essential)
• Prior knowledge of reconciliation and data analysis (essential)
• Currently working in a financial environment (essential)
• Able to confidently use a finance system (e.g. MyFinance) (essential)
• Demonstrable excellent data analysis and reconciliation skills (essential)
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise (essential)
• High level of verbal and written communication skills (essential)
• Work independently whilst exercising judgement to prioritise tasks (essential)
• To take independent ownership of tasks (essential)
• Excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge of excel and a good all round knowledge of Microsoft Office software (essential)
