Assistant Finance Business Partner - Temporary Contract - £18 per hour holiday pay - Hammersmith

Morgan Hunt are working with a College who are going through an exciting period of growth and are currently recruiting for an Assistant Finance Business Partner to join their team on a full time, temporary basis. The contract is initially till February 2023 or until the permanent position is filled. The College work on a hybrid basis, allowing staff to work remotely for 2 days per week.

Responsibilities:

Some of your duties and responsibilities as an Assistant Finance Business Partner will include:

  • Process budget journals for the college and its subsidiaries company annual revenue and capital budgets.
  • Process general journals in preparing the monthly management accounts
  • Assist on a monthly basis monitoring the financial position of cost centres and provide support to budget managers.
  • Meet and provide financial support to budget holders with managers as appropriate.
  • Undertake financial reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the reviewing and collating and reconciliation of the all agency staff request
  • Respond to opportunities to enhance the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the college's activities.
  • Ensure the achievement of value for money is sought in all activities undertaken by budget holders.
  • Actively promote the procurement function within the college encouraging best practice with due regard for sustainability, ethical purchasing standards and whole life costing.
  • Assist in the development maintenance of all college financial applications.
  • Train colleagues within the finance directorate and across the college in the use of this software.
  • Write and develop data analysis reports for use by cross college managers
  • Analyse financial data and produce reports to management
  • Provided information for the college's internal and external auditors as appropriate.
  • Assist in the completion of the year-end financial accounts
  • Provide advice on financial accounting matters arising from changes in government funding and accounting policies.
  • Assist in the completion of grant claims and statistical returns accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
  • Assist in the completion of the quarterly VAT returns
  • Assist in the reconciliation of control accounts
  • Produce salary reports for budget holders
  • Raise orders on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance for the Finance departments as required.
  • Ensure all financial procedures at the college are adhered to provide advice on the application of these procedures to staff throughout the college.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years accounting experience
  • Higher / Further Education, or Public Sector background
  • Confidently work with a variety of stakeholders regardless of their seniority
  • Confident in account reconciliation
  • Confident in using computerised finance systems
  • Able to complete grant and statistical returns
  • Strong IT knowledge, including Excel as this will be your main tool
  • Can use reporting software such as Business Objects/Crystal/Power BI
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Qualified to at least AAT level. However, preferably candidates should be part/fully qualified accountant
