Job Title: Science Teacher
Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
Location: East London
Industry: Education
Length of contract: Temporary - ongoing
Payrate: £28 - £30/hr
Details: Applied Science L3 - Unit 7 and Unit 6 - biochemistry skills and science practical skills are necessary
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Teach across all levels and abilities - L3 - Unit 7 and Unit 6
- To assist and support colleagues in the department who may not be Science specialists
- To identify and promote core learning skills and teaching strategies in their own subject and help to encourage best practice through support, advice and CDP opportunities.
- To oversee the teaching of Science throughout the school and the implementation of the curriculum
- To seek opportunities for pupils to engage in activities with other schools, competitions and challenges in Science supporting both pupil enhancement and raising of school profile
- To raise the profile of Science across the school
- Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning
- Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential
Skills & experience
- Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving QTS
- Familiarity with the national curriculum of England (Plus IGCSE/GCSE and/or A Levels as appropriate)
- Biochemistry skills and science practical skills are necessary
- Passion for teaching and commitment to educating a child
- A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
- Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
- Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background
- A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
- A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check (for applicants who have never worked in UK) and no question regarding suitability to work with children
