Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Curriculum Developments and Delivery

 

  • Oversee the curriculum at Jumpers! Nursery, ensuring it is creative, stimulating and fun. That it facilitates the intellectual, emotional, physical, social and where appropriate, spiritual development of each child.
  • Ensuring that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the room, kitchen and equipment are carried out according to the Policies & Procedures and risk assessments.
  • Where possible relating the Christian ethos of YMCA SPG to the curriculum of Jumpers! Nursery.
  • Establish and maintain a stimulating, age-appropriate and accessible programme of activities for the children in-line with the Early Years Foundation Stage 2021 Statutory Framework.
  • Lead a 'Positive Choices' atmosphere that encourages and praises children.
  • Keep records of the children's development.
  • Prepare development reports as required and liaise with their parents/carers and the Nursery Manager on issues of concern.
  • Be responsible for working on action plan's towards the setting achieving an Outstanding rating from Ofsted
  • Ensure that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the room, kitchen and equipment are carried out according to the Policies & Procedures and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that displays are regularly changed to stimulate development and curiosity, and reflect the children's work.

 

Child Care

 

This will include: ensuring the safety and well-being of each child by creating a loving and caring atmosphere, recognising each child as an individual and to realise its potential. Keeping up-to-date with current childcare legislation and general childcare developments, ensuring that the nursery adheres to Ofsted and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 at all times.

This will involve ensuring:

 

  • Ensuring an inclusive environment in relation to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
  • Being responsible for the safety and well-being of each child whilst on YMCA SPG premises.
  • Keeping daily attendance registers/signing in/out sheets.
  • Ensure all staff are completing observations using the online learning journal tool
  • Ensuring each child is given praise and encouragement, opportunities to succeed in environments where positive behaviour is promoted.
