Purchase Ledger Supervisor

Permanent

Sittingbourne

£35,814 per annum

Full Time - 36 hours per week

Morgan Hunt have partnered with a Housing Association who are currently recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Supervisor to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

Some of your duties and responsibilities as a Purchase Ledger Supervisor will include:

  • Deliver a customer focused service, working with the team to meet the objectives in the team plan
  • Work with the head of department to develop, implement and manage systems for expenditure management and reporting.
  • Supervise the work of the finance officers in the team, ensuring work is completed to a high standard. Identify staff training needs and use 1:1s to value contribution and increase team members skills, expertise and performance.
  • Ensure all relevant financial controls are maintained and correct procedures are followed and kept up to date.
  • Develop and maintain good professional working relationships with customers, partners and other internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a timely response to enquiries, complaints and correspondence.
  • Oversee processing of invoices, credit notes and other requests for payments, monitoring and troubleshooting transactions in the purchase ledger systems to minimise potential payment delays
  • Assist with uploading of the purchase ledger system interface and manage journal entries to ensure that they are posted promptly and accurately
  • Prepare and check the weekly payment run to supplier's, rent refunds and manual payments to agreed terms
  • Supervise reconciliation of supplier's accounts.
  • Monitor system controls to ensure they are compliant
  • Resolve any legal notices and bailiff demands within the required time frame
  • Deputise for the Head of Expenditure and undertake projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Public sector background (essential)
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Able to comfortably give and receive constructive feedback
  • Experience of accountancy and double entry book-keeping
  • Previously line managed a team, this role comes with line management responsibilities
  • Knowledge of system design and the importance of key controls
  • Strong IT knowledge
  • Experience with Sun systems and BACS software
  • Experienced in use of Proactis or similar purchase order system
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally, verbally and in writing
  • A proven ability to inform decisions that minimise risk and lead to the delivery of efficient services
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and prioritisation of workload
  • Effectively motivate and inspire staff, focusing them on successful outcomes
  • Ability to work with staff in different functional areas in order to obtain information consistently, accurately and on time
  • Self-motivated and able to take on a wide range of challenges
  • Comfortable with changing priorities to suit business need.
