Temporary

Hybrid - London (WC1R)

£14.56 per hour including holiday pay

Full Time - 35 hours per week

Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to support their client initially until the end of May 2022. There may be potential for the contract to be extended should the business require it.

Responsibilities:

Some of your duties and responsibilities as an Accounts Assistant will include:

• Ensure Supplier contact and bank details are kept up to date
• Prepare and submit the weekly BACS payment run
• Ensure adequate stocks of cheques are maintained
• Record all payments received onto the Finance system and database daily
• Prepare journals allocating income received to the appropriate account codes
• Collaborate with departments to ensure that income is recorded correctly on the College database, resolving queries in a timely manner
• Process credit card payments using the online payment system or mobile terminal
• Issue the mobile credit card terminal to College staff for external events, provide training, and ensure that procedures are followed
• Raise sales invoices on the Finance system
• Action all exam and event refunds and transfers as requested
• Action any other matters requested relating to the sales ledger
• Complete daily bank reconciliations and a weekly cash report for all College bank accounts
• Identify all transactions on the bank statements
• Deposit daily cheque and cash banking into the College bank account
• Review outstanding cheques payable on a regular basis and issue reminders
• Prepare bank transfers on the online banking system
• Prepare journals on the Finance system as required
• Maintain the posting reports and banking filing systems
• Arrange for the paper filing systems to be scanned following the annual audit
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual accounts as detailed in the timetables
• To cooperate with the College's external auditors
• Respond to internal and external enquiries in an appropriate and timely manner
• Collaborate with College staff to resolve queries relating to payments received or due from members, delegates, candidates and customers
• Assist staff in following the College's financial procedures and regulations
• Collaborate with other Finance department team members to provide a coherent service to internal and external customers
• Assist in the smooth running of the departmental processes by observing timetables and dependencies between tasks carried out by other members of the Finance team
• Provide absence cover for the other Accounts Assistants
• Maintain the petty cash float and issue cash to staff
• Ensure that cash, cheques, confidential information and financial records are stored securely
• Observe and follow the requirements of data protection legislation and/or GDPR when processing personal data
• Contribute to projects as required by the Financial Accountant, Management
• Accountant, Head of Finance or Director of Finance and Resources, as requested

Requirements:

• Demonstrable knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles
• Previous experience of administrative processes
• Aptitude for learning new processes and Finance systems
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong IT knowledge especially in excel packages
