Temporary Project Workers Wanted in Lambeth

Pay: £11-£14 Per Hour

Clients: Working with Ex-homeless clients with various complex needs including, dual diagnosis, mental health issues, drug and alcohol addictions and challenging behaviour

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours, must have complete availability and be happy to work 5 days a week across Monday - Sunday on a rolling rota. This includes:

First 3 weeks weekend off

4h Week - Saturday off, Sunday on

5th Work the full weekend

6th Work the full weekend

7th - Saturday on, Sunday off

Area: Lambeth

Assignment: 3 months likely extension

You must have an enhanced DBS issued within 12 months or one that is on the update service to apply - If you don't have one, please contact us and we can help you get one for future roles!

Our social care client in Lambeth needs a complex needs project worker for their hostel. With the social care sector under enormous pressure during these difficult times, more and more services are opening or expanding to meet the demand. This service has been a crucial component of the homeless recovery in the borough of Lambeth for years!

Service Notes:

The service helps people aged 40 who may have a history of street homelessness and who find it hard to sustain or obtain long term accommodation due to challenging behaviour, continued heavy drinking and/or chaotic way of life.

The project consists of 8 hostel rooms and 15 move on flats. In his role you will oversee a case load of 4 clients, working alongside each client's social worker and care coordinator, so clear communication and the ability to work well with others is crucial!

Clients must have Lambeth connection. Dogs accepted are also accepted! To be successful in this role you will need to be comfortable and capable of working with clients with anti-social behaviour, complex needs, problematic individuals, clients that can be verbally abusive and resistant to support.

You will need to link your clients in with third party providers such as drug and alcohol recovery services, the local council, anti-social behaviour and GP's.

To be successful in this social care role you should have a good expertise and understanding of the following:

  • The needs of homeless people and can work in an empathetic, constructive but firm manner with vulnerable adults who have experienced complex trauma, pre-existing forms of addiction or mental health issues.
  • You will have excellent written and oral communication skills to enable you to effectively advocate on behalf of your clients when required
  • Will also possess good literacy, numeracy, and I.T skills.
  • You should have an interest in homelessness issues and have up to date knowledge on Homeless and housing legislation.
  • As project worker you will be arranging and carrying out key work support sessions based on each client's support plans, catered around their various support needs. You will also be collating and updating needs and risks assessments, confidence in both these areas of expertise is crucial.
  • You will need to assess clients on their barriers to engagement with the service and yourself, altering your approach to suit the individual and enable the clients to trust you. This will allow you to begin assisting them with the reshape of their lives
  • You will also be inducting new tenants into the service, helping them to understand their terms of agreement and making them feel settled
