Pay: £12.33 PAYE

Clients: Working with Vulnerable Homeless clients with varied needs

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours across 3 months with possible extension

Location: Deptford

Have you got what it takes to work with vulnerable homeless people?

Our social care client is looking for hostel workers In Deptford for their 28 day stay supported accommodation services for clients who were previously homeless. Clients staying at the service have medium to high needs so you will need to have experience working with complex needs clients.

The purpose of the service is to ensure clients are ready to move on this means helping them with getting the most out of their current situation by ensuring they are receiving the correct benefits, applying for universal credit, teaching independent life skills, updating needs and risk assessments and then reporting back to the manager to see which clients are then ready to be moved on from the project

To be successful in this social care role you should have a good expertise and understanding of the following:

  • The needs of homeless people and can work in an empathic, constructive but strict manner with vulnerable adults who may have experienced complex trauma, pre-existing forms of addiction or mental health issues.
  • You will have excellent written and oral communication skills to enable you to effectively advocate on behalf of your clients when required
  • Will also possess good literacy, numeracy, and I.T skills.
  • You should have an interest in homelessness issues and have up to date knowledge on Homeless and housing legislation.
  • As project worker you will be providing key work support sessions based on each client's support plans catered around their various support needs. You will also be collating and updating needs and risks assessments, confidence in both these areas of expertise is crucial.
  • You will need to assess clients on their barriers to engagement with the service and yourself, using altered approaches to enable the clients to trust you in order for you to begin assisting them with the reshape of their lives
  • You will also be inducting new tenants into the service, helping them to understand their terms of agreement and making them feel settled

You must have an enhanced DBS issued within 12 months or one that is on the update service to apply - If you don't have one, please contact us and we can help you get one for future roles!
