Onsite - Croydon

Hourly Rate - £16.98

1 Months contract with possible extension

My client are a leading further education organisation that are looking for an IT Engineer to manage and develop the College's central IT infrastructure and systems to ensure a very high level of availability to users of all College networked systems and to assist with the management and development of a high level of Cyber Security and integrity for the College's infrastructure, central systems and associated data.

Your Role:

• To maintain an efficient IT Helpdesk service to provide the 2nd and 3rd level of technical support and advice.
• To be an active member of the IT Services Team and be able to respond effectively to a range of predicted and unpredicted demands throughout the College.
• To manage and develop of the College's converged network equipment and services supporting a wired and wireless IP based infrastructure for data, voice, access control, CCTV and video conferencing systems.
• To proactively monitor network performance to ensure a highly performing and secure infrastructure at all times, identifying, diagnosing and resolving issues as necessary with the team and external suppliers.
• To assist with the management and development of the College Cyber Security infrastructure including Firewalls, end point protection and web filtering systems.
• To assist with the management and development of the College's virtualised, Active Directory, Windows based server, SAN and business continuity platforms.
• To assist with the management and development of the College's Microsoft 365 system.
• To support and provide training for the IT Helpdesk Team in resolving complex IT and infrastructure issues publishing documentation and resources as necessary.
• To assist with internal and cross college IT Projects in relation to infrastructure or systems developments, liaising effectively with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
• To carry out and securely store system and data backups, ensuring backup logs and documentation are up-to-date and restoration testing is undertaken and recorded as per procedures.

A successful candidate will have:

• A proven in-depth knowledge of networking principals and technologies including TCP/UDP/IP and wireless protocols
• Experience of deploying, managing and troubleshooting complex converged network environments
• Experience of installing and configuring IP environments including DNS, DHCP and Firewall solutions
• Knowledge and experience of supporting Microsoft 365 systems is desirable
• Experience of supporting Teams and SharePoint environments is desirable
• Experience of Microsoft PC Operating Systems
• Experience of Apple Mac, iOS and Android devices is desirable
• Knowledge of appropriate legislation ie) Copyright laws, Data protection Act and Health and Safety.
• Ability to prioritise work within a pressured technical environment
• Strong service ethos striving for efficiency and effectiveness at all times
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
• Excellent analytical skills and able to resolve complex technical issues
• Willingness to develop new skills and knowledge
• Must be flexible to work out of hours to support business changes, patching and upgrades and willing to provide business continuity support 24/7 as and when required.
• DBS cleared - essential
• Previous experience of working in further education is desirable
