Job description

Office Location: Head Office Islington
Mainly home working
Salary: £12-£14 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Full-time, 9am to 5pm)
Contract: 3- 6 month temp with a potential to go permanent

The Role

Manage the accounts payable function
Manage the imprest petty cash and prepaid cards system
Correctly record all expenditure and payments
Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts
Compliance to agreed standards and procedures for all finance operations
Working alongside other Finance colleagues
Adhoc work as needed

Accountabilities

Match purchase invoices to approved purchase orders and check that goods/services have been received prior to payment.
Check partner expenditure claims based on agreed payment schedules.
Ensure that suppliers are paid within agreed payment terms.
Prepare fortnightly purchase ledger BACS payment runs, other cheque/online payments.Prepare fortnightly staff expense reimbursement BACS payment runs.
Deal with all accounts payable and staff expense queries.
Filing of all supplier invoices, staff expense claims,
Reconciliation of supplier accounts to statements and resolution of any queries and disputes.
Reconciliation of the company credit card statements each month.
Reconciliation of all prepaid and petty cash accounts.
Check petty cash returns and supporting documentation from all sites and arrange reimbursement.
Filing of all petty cash claims and supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate supplier and staff details using Finance systems.
Capture purchase, company credit card and petty cash transactions accurately on software and code to the appropriate budget area.Maintain comprehensive audit trail (paper or electronic) records for all transactions.
Arrange authorisation for BACS, cheques and online payments by a director and chief executive, or two directors.
Comply with all Solace Women Aid's policies and procedures.
Arrange prompt banking for every week.
To be responsible for effective liaison with other teams and to promote joint working arrangements and the sharing of information.
To participate in training as required, in weekly team meetings and in regular one-to-one
Support and Supervision meetings with line manager.

Requirements

Experience of cash handling
Experience of compiling VAT returns
Excellent spreadsheet skills
A full or part accounting qualification.
Relevant work experience in a finance department.
* An understanding of financial processes and procedures
* Outstanding attention to detail
* Ability to work quickly and accurately
