Admissions Officer

8 week contract (potential to extend)

London / Remote

£15.66 per hour holiday pay

36.5 hours per week (full time)

Morgan Hunt are working with a University who are currently recruiting for an Admissions Officer to join their team on a full time, temporary basis.

Some of your main duties as an Admissions Officer will include:

  • Handle enquiries regarding applications for study from applicants, parents and schools/colleges
  • Process applications across the areas of Undergraduate, Initial Teacher Education, and Affiliate admissions, including: creating database applicant records; managing on-line applications using the student database, the electronic workflow and the applicant portal
  • Checking student qualifications and assessment, including the application of contextual data; processing aptitude test results (as appropriate)
  • Arrange interviews for potential students
  • Producing offer letters, fee status determination
  • Update database records for transmission to UCAS, including confirmation decisions; and, verification of qualifications.
  • Assess the suitability of applicants for a programme of study and make the selection decision on whether to admit the applicant.
  • Liaise with relevant admissions tutor in cases where a decision is unclear
  • Liaise with the Senior Admissions Officer and admission tutors regarding offer production and conversion rates to ensure offer quotas and intake targets are being met.
  • Liaise with UCAS regarding specific applicant records as and when required
  • Work collaboratively with schools and school partners as and when required
  • Support the Occupational Health clearance process for all relevant applicants, providing clear and accurate information to applicants, monitoring payments, and recording the results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support the Disclosure and Barring Service clearance process for all relevant applicants, providing clear and accurate information to applicants, monitoring payments, and recording the results in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare Points Based Immigration System documentation for applicants, in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Attend and support with any events as and when instructed by your line manager
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post


  • Admissions / strong admin experience within a Higher Education setting
  • Previously worked in a high volume data processing, customer service environment
  • Knowledge of the SITS student information system
  • Excellent IT skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office applications and knowledge of using databases
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to prioritise your own workload
  • Able to effectively communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to evaluate information against set criteria and guidelines
  • Ability to complete high-volume and repetitive tasks to consistently high standards of speed and accuracy
  • Able to work as part of a team and share relevant information
