Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a prestigious Russel Group University, as a result of promotions within their organisation, in their search for a permanent Procurement Officer to support the Senior Category Managers in delivering a variety of procurement's across a broad range of categories within a University environment.

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day requirements of a contract, preparation and analyses of data, compliance with internal & external procurement regulations, basic tendering and delivering savings and associated benefits.

As a successful candidate you should have prior experience of working in a procurement environment, contract management, competitive tendering and hold knowledge surrounding contract law and Public Contracts Regulations.

You will be a competently organised and self-motivated individual who holds the ability to analyse complex information, work with minimal supervision, communicate proficiently at all levels (both written and verbal), hold great customer relationship building & maintenance, influencing and negotiation skills and are an efficient team worker.

Salary: £26,000 - 31,000 Per annum

Key Requirements

  • Undertake the day-to-day operational and technical aspects of tenders (both above UK Procurement Threshold and institutional), quotations, mini competitions, recommendation on contract awards, post contract award activity and management of contracts of wide variety of scales and complexity
  • Ensure compliance with both University Financial and European Procurement regulations
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers and partners to manage day to day operational and technical procurement matters
  • Maintain contract records, carry out e-procurement management, use and update relevant databases, registers and systems ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
  • Regularly review the contracts database for contracts that are due to expire and take appropriate action to ensure continuity of service.
  • Be efficient and accurate in the operation of electronic procurement systems such as the e- tendering system, to support procurement
  • Carry out research on markets, supply chains and sector/national procurement best practice. Compiling, collating, analysing and assisting in presenting data in a usable format, to inform day to day procurement approaches and to make recommendations to senior management or to enable senior management to make informed procurement decisions
  • Provide demonstrable evidence for all cost savings and

Personal Specification

  • Working towards MCIPS qualification is desired but not essential
  • Skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant roles and job-related training.
  • Self-motivated and organised with the proven ability to meet deadlines and objectives
  • Hold excellent analytical skills
  • Great team worker
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages including but not limited to Word and Excel.
