Treasurer/Trustee - Field Lane

About us
Field Lane has been caring for people since 1841. We provide care and support for a diverse range of service users, including adults with learning disabilities, vulnerable families - many of whom are homeless - and people in need of additional support to stay in their own home or with their families.

Primarily based in London and the southeast, we have supported living projects in Essex, Surrey and Sussex. Our residential centre for vulnerable families is in southwest London. Our fresh approach, providing a unique combination of care, accommodation and support, makes a huge difference to the everyday lives of people who are often hidden from view.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior finance professional to join the Board of Trustees in the role of Board Treasurer. The incumbent is approaching the end of their term of office and we look to identify a talented and knowledgeable successor. The Treasurer will play a critical role in supporting the Board of Trustees and Executive in providing oversight of the organisations financial viability and compliance. A key responsibility would be to chair the Finance and General Purposes Committee meetings.

In addition to the key requirements of the trustee role, we look for individuals who have financial qualifications and financial expertise. Experience of charity finance or housing finance would be desirable but not essential. You will have a clear commitment to the organisation and be sympathetic to the Christian faith that informs and influences the charity's decisions, policies and practices.

You will have strategic vision and excellent commercial acumen with the ability to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences. You will also have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to command respect and create consensus amongst senior stakeholders.

Whilst prior governance experience is not required, it would be essential that you could demonstrate that you have chaired a committee or working group in a collaborative and proactive manner.
