Morgan Hunt are currently working in partnership with a global Magic Circle Law Firm on the appointment of a qualified Tax Reserves Manager in their established London team.

The firm, who operate at the forefront of the legal sector and are well known within the commercial and financial services space boast a global span of over 40 offices spanning over 25 territories and over 600 global partners.

The newly created Tax Reserves Manager position will be based in their London office and sit within a Partners Affairs & Tax team of approximately 20 qualified professionals who are based across the the UK and Asia. The Tax Reserves Manager will be responsible for the management of the global tax affairs of the global group, with a specific focus on the delivery of partners' tax reserves.

The Tax Reserves Manager role and duties will include:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the tax systems of the territories in which the firm operates in relation to partner tax reserves
  • Set up of tax reserves for partners in both GBP & currency
  • Reconciliation and release of residual balances, including review of various tax equalisation arrangements
  • Obtain a consolidated view of partners' overall tax reserves positions as part of ongoing reserves reconciliation and releases processes.
  • Ownership of UK overlap relief calculations
  • Ongoing review of existing processes to ensure that they continue to be appropriate & efficient
  • Delivering tax reserves calculations, tax equalisation calculations and relevant tax disclosures
  • Communications with partners, CFOs and other stakeholders in relation to tax reserving matters

The ideal Tax Reserves Manager will:

  • Be from a Professional Services or Financial Services Background
  • Have a a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) alongside a recognised tax qualification (CTA, CIOT or equivalent).
  • Have an incredibly collaborative approach and ability to build strong relationships across all levels of seniority.
  • Have very strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex tax and accounting issues both orally and in writing to non-specialists
  • Personal or Corporate Tax Experience to Manager level
