Position: Policy Advisor- Conduct Regulation (Long Term Savings)

Job Type: Permanent

Location: London (Hybrid working)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

I am working with a reputable organisation within the finance sector which champion the interests of the UK's insurance and long-term savings industry. This organisation are looking for a 'Policy Advisor' to join their London team. Reporting to the Policy Manager of Conduct Regulation, you will be responsible for shaping the UK's conduct regulation of the insurance and long-term savings industry; enabling a competitive and innovative environment for insurers. You will ensure that regulation of insurers and long-term savings providers is consistent with the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) strategic objective to make sure markets function well for consumers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To develop and communicate convincing policy positions whilst undertaking research to ensure evidence based proposals.
  • To ensure policy proposals are in line with the strategic objectives of insurers and long-term savings providers in relation to conduct regulation issues.
  • Lead on policy development in collaboration with members including providing support to working groups/committees whilst obtaining technical input across the industry.
  • Monitor the development of Financial Conduct Authority initiatives to ensure policies are in line with stipulations whilst leading the organisation's approach to specific FCA and government projects.
  • Establish and grow professional relationships with key stakeholders within the FCA, FOS, Government, trade associations and cross-industry groups.

Key Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with an evidence based approach to problem solving and policy decision making.
  • Good understanding of a regulator's needs and an ability to match industry response accordingly.
  • Excellent knowledge of the long term savings industry, including how businesses and markets work; how they are regulated.
  • Good lobbying skills with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders in member firms, Government and regulators.
  • Good written and oral communications skills, with an ability to address a wide range of audiences.
