Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with one of the UK's most renowned Children's Charity in their search for a permanent Contracts Lawyer to undertake a full range of in-house legal duties and provide advice across the organisation and its subsidiaries.

You will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, interpreting and negotiating a variety of contracts, as well as to advising on a wide range of legal matters across the organisation.

You will work closely with Legal Counsel, deputising when appropriate and supporting in a range of legal areas and projects relating to Charity Law, Intellectual Property and other areas. You will conduct research into various legal matters and applicable regulations and laws, while producing notes on relevant aspects for internal circulation.

The successful post-holder will be a Qualified Lawyer (1 year PQE), with strong experience in Contracts Law. You will be a pragmatic, intelligent and ambitious self-starter, who is keen to learn new areas of law and develop your career.

Ideally, you will have experience working in an In-House position within the Charity Sector, with an understanding of Gambling legislation, Intellectual Property Law, Charity Law as well as governance, compliance and regulations in the fundraising sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual, who is keen to pick up new areas of law and progress their legal career. You will be entitled to 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) and summer working hours. You will be required to work in the London Officer 2 days per week, on average over the month.

Annual Salary: £44,000 - £46,500

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, interpret and negiotiate a wide range of contacts (including supplier, service and consultance contratcs, terms and conditions, grants, licences and NDAs)
  • Ensure timely progression of contracts and advising on contractual obligations, potential legal risks and liabilities
  • Advise on the negotiation and/or termination of existing contracts
  • Ensure flow of liability from main contracts to sub-contracts as necessary
  • Provide timely and practical legal advice and guidance on non-contentious issues across the organisation (balancing operational objectives and legal risks)
  • Conduct research into various legal matters and applicable regulations and laws, while producing notes on relevant aspects for internal circulation
  • Assist in advising on applicable gambling law and unregulated activities
  • Support in the development of best practise to maintain standard contract management, templates and precedents
  • Support in the delivery of training in relation to contract management and negotiation
  • Liaise with External Counsel as necessary

Person Specification (Essential)

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales or an equivalent jurisdiction
  • 1 year PQE in Contract Law
  • Experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of legal documentation
  • Strong experience working with stakeholders at all levels across an organisation
  • Flexible, pragmatic and proactive individual
  • Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to express technical information to a range of audiences
  • Strong IT and Microsoft Office Skills

Person Specification (Desirable)

  • Experience working in an In-House position within the Charity Sector
