Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body in their search for a permanent Paralegal to undertake complex investigations as well as provide paralegal support, with the potential to present cases yourself.

You will be responsible for drafting case plans, undertaking risk assessments as well as gathering, analysing and interpreting a range of evidence. This will involve obtaining witness statements, drafting allegations and autonomous decision making on case progression.

You will be able to quickly pick up an allocated caseload, while demonstrate strong customer service skills when liaising with a range of parties involved in each investigation.

The role would be perfect for someone with experience within Investigation and Case Management within a regulatory or legal environment (preferably Professional Regulation, or within the Police Force). The successful applicants will have strong analytic and communication skills, with a genuine interest in public protection and a compassionate nature. An understanding of professional regulation and experience working within a complex framework is highly desirable.

Location: Hybrid (once per week in London Office on average)

Annual Salary: £31,000 - £36,000

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct end-to-end investigation of cases, and proactively manage your own caseload
  • Identify and obtain all evidence necessary to make informed decisions regarding to cases, using a range of methods - including witness statements and drafting allegations
  • Analyse information to make evidence-based decisions on the progression and conclusion of cases
  • Accurately assess the risk presented within cases and ensure any high-risk cases are identified, prioritised and progressed for interim orders
  • Support lawyers with the preparation of cases before statutory committees and potentially, present cases yourself
  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, whilst always delivering good customer care
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of developments in regulatory case law and best practice
  • Preparing case bundles

Personal Specification

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing high volume of varying tasks and duties
  • Ability to work within, and applying, a complex framework of policy and guidance
  • Demonstrated experience of investigation and making evidence-based decisions
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and able to adapt communication to wide range of audiences
  • Excellent customer care skills - and genuine care about public protection
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Organised team player, with high attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills - with ability to analyse large volumes of complex information
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely in written reports
